Writing Ourselves In

with Viki Leavitt, Ph.D.

Moving from our usual world into the atmosphere of NAPT's annual conference is like stepping into a wonderland, full of fresh breezes, like-minded friends, and the luxury of playing with words. How do we make the most of our time at the conference? Together we can explore and acknowledge our expectations and hopes for the experience of the coming weekend. We will write in circle, center ourselves, and cross the bridge from our busy and sometimes fractured daily schedules into the arms of poetry therapy and its adventures.

About Viki Leavitt: Victoria Levitt, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of English at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she teaches writing and is the director of the College Writing Center. She is also a certified instructor for Journal to the Self and teaches journal and poetry workshops and classes on the college level and in the community. She is currently enrolled in Kathleen Adams's Certified Poetry Therapist Distance Learning program. In addition to her interests in writing and poetry therapy, she has recently completed requirements for certification as a labyrinth facilitator through Veriditas in San Francisco.
